Supported Video Formats
The following popular video formats can be uploaded to ReviewSpace.
- flv (Flash Video Format)
- mp4 (MPEG-4 H.264 with AAC audio)
- mov (with AAC audio)
- wmv (Windows Media Video with WMA2 audio)
- mpeg/mpg
- avi (DivX is NOT supported)
All of the videos you upload are encoded to the H.264 format for web preview, the original file you uploaded is also available for download.
For best results we recommend you export your video using the settings outlined below.
H.264/MPEG-4
- Resolution: 640x360
- Video Codec: H.264
- Frame Rate: Constant at 24, 25 or 30 fps
- Data Rate: We recommend up to 750kbps for web streaming
- Audio Codec: AAC
- Audio Bit Rate: 96-128kbps
Windows Media Video (WMV)
If your primary delivery format is a Windows Media Video file we recommend you upload your video in this format. ReviewSpace will create a H.264 file for web preview, and allow you and your clients to download your optimized WMV.
We cannot currently process WMV files using the WMA 3 audio codec, this is also referred to as WMA Professional. Your encoding software should allow you to lower this to WMA2 or just WMA.
We would also recommend that the minimum resolution of your WMV file is 640x360, you can upload a higher resolution if you wish.

What is the maximum file size I can upload?
ReviewSpace will support files up to 2GB, however you are limited by the storage space for your package and we recommend you try to keep your files as small as possible.
You will need to use the Adobe Flash uploader to upload files greater than 6MB. You can change this in My Account, see How can I switch the Flash uploader on or off?.
back to topMy video failed to convert, why?
Sometimes videos fail to convert and a web preview is never generated. This normally happens because the original uses an unsupported codec or there was an error with the original file.
Please check that your video & audio formats are listed in the Supported Video Formats section.
We have also found that conversions will fail if you've edited the video in Final Cut Pro and not rendered the video before exporting.
If you have checked formats and tried to export the video again but are still having issues please let us know by Email. We can't promise a solution but we will investigate to see if our encoding software is at fault.
back to topI can't upload a file, why not?
- You must be part of a project and have permission to add people & files
- Your account must still have adequate storage space for the file you are uploading
- Your account must not have reached the limit for number of items
- If you have the Adobe Flash uploader enabled you must have the latest version of the Flash Player installed
- Please check the file you are uploading is within the size limit and is a supported file type
- Please check the original file functions as you expect when opened on your computer
If you are still having issues please let us know by Email so we can investigate.

The document preview didn't work or looks wrong.
Our document preview is generated using a third party service called Scribd. Normally we find this works really well, however occasionally we find there are issues.
